Hoist your flag

Right before running out onto the floor for any game, I turn to my partners and say the following:

"Whistle check!" (We pat our chests to confirm we haven't forgotten our whistles.)
"Fly check!" (We double-check our zippers.)

Well, in this area, I'm clearly more effective than a major league baseball umpire:

Home-plate umpire Kerwin Danley spent a good part of Tuesday's game with his pants zipper down and clearly visible to television viewers. A message was relayed to an umpire attendant, who sprinted out to Danley after the top of the fifth inning to warn him of his "wardrobe malfunction."

A laughing Danley quickly zipped up.

The missing information: who relayed the message to the umpire attendant? It was nice of that someone to let Danley know. It's also nice that Danley took it with humor.

(Snippet is from the Seattle Times.)
